I am delighted to have been elected as President of Hope Show this year and my husband John and I are very much looking forward to representing the show at all the other events in our area.  But what we are most looking forward to is being able to enjoy our own show on August Bank Holiday Monday and see at first hand the fruits of all the hard work that the great team of Hope Show organisers put together.  As the current General Secretary, it's been 9 years since I was just a visitor to the show and I have to admit I will be feeling a little guilty knowing that everyone else in the team will be hard at work.  I come from a farming family with my brother Alex still running the family farm with his wife, sons and daughters.

My first memories of Hope Show are visiting as a small girl and been taken around the Vintage and Veteran cars by my Grandfather Major Ball, this must be where I first picked up my enthusiasm for these beautifully restored vehicles/

A tremendous amount of work goes in this traditional country show from both the show organisers to the exhibiors with many hours spent restoring, polishing, grooming, training and planning all resulting in a great day out.

This year is a very special year for Hope Valley Young Farmer who are celebrating their 80th year, when you see how farming has changed since 1937 when virtually everything was done by manual labour with horses instead of of the horse power we reply on these days.  Our Young Farmers are the future not just of farming but of the countryside as we know and love it and this is something that we all should remember but especially the various major organisations who are becoming  increasingly the custodians of the countryside.

I hope everyone has a really great day at the show this year.
